$17,000 RAISED TO HELP CHILDREN WITH SERIOUS BURN INJUIRIES

On June 6th, Able Restoration hosted its 3rd annual Disaster Relief Golf Tournament at the Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass. The turnout was great, the golfing terrific, and a good time was had by all. And best of all? A whopping $17,000 was raised to help the Shriners Hospital for Children – Boston continue to provide comprehensive acute, reconstructive and rehabilitative care to children with burn injuries.

We would like to thank the members of our community for their generosity, and our dedicated committee members and tournament sponsors for making this event one of our best fundraisers ever. We look forward to seeing you all next year!

Preparedness Tips

Preparedness Tips article photo

THE POWER GOES OUT. THE PHONES GO DOWN. YOU’RE PREPARED.
RIGHT?

10 storms have been classified as tropical storms or hurricanes since June. It doesn't matter if you live on the Gulf Coast or on the eastern seaboard; you need to be prepared for the unexpected. Here are important — even lifesaving — tips on what you need to do to keep you, your home, and your family safe in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster.

  • Create a disaster plan NOW and go over it with family members — especially your children. Everyone needs to know exactly what to do and NOT to do in an emergency.
  • Figure out the best escape routes from your home and find a safe place where family members can meet if they become separated or are coming from different parts of town.
  • Designate an out-of-state family member or friend to serve as a family contact.
  • Put together a disaster supply kit. It should include emergency supplies (water, transistor radio, blankets, flash lights, batteries, etc.) as well as copies of important documents.

BRINGING ORDER TO CHAOS AT KNOLLSBROOK CONDOMINIUMS

The fire came from the woods. High winds and dry conditions soon turned it into a voracious blaze that quickly spread into the nearby Knollsbrook complex. As the restoration company for Barkan Management, the management company of the Knollsbrook Condominiums in Stoughton, Mass., Able Restoration responded immediately securing the premises, boarding up broken windows and removing debris. Damage to the property was significant — totaling $1 million.

Able's plan of action included:

  • Installing temporary power boxes to supply electricity to undamaged units near the restoration site
  • Removing collapsed and damaged carports
  • Cleaning and deodorizing undamaged units
  • Removing smoke and soot residue from floors and ceilings
  • Mobilizing specialized desiccant trailers for high-speed drying

Visit our website to view the entire Barkan Management - Knollsbrook Condominiums case study.

"Your communication during this fire reconstruction job has been exemplary and I have nothing but praise for how you have made my job a breeze and taken care of every little request, many which were above and beyond the scope of the contract".
— Barkan Management, Boston, Mass.
